IBJJF Ruleset

The rules that protect the sport.

Tournament Formats

Differences from IBJJF.

01

Round Robin (Kids)

Kids and beginners run in Round Robin format. Common mistakes or non-serious irregular moves (guard crossing, jumping into guard, etc.) result in a penalty rather than disqualification. Disqualification applies only to serious infractions such as slamming or aggression.

02

Single Elimination

Standard IBJJF bracket format for advanced divisions.

03

Referee Stop Authority

For all beginners (white belts: kids, teens, and adults), the referee has authority to stop the match whenever a potentially dangerous situation is identified — intervening before any injury can occur.

Arbitration Commission

Black belt referees. VAR replay.

Every event is officiated by IBJJF-trained black belt referees, supported by on-screen replay review and a dedicated organization & arbitration commission — so every decision is fair, transparent, and final.
